Jul 19, 2018 This article describes the known challenges that can occur when you manage a Windows 10 Group policy client base from a Windows 2012 R2 server. The same challenges apply to using the Advanced Group Policy Management sever (AGPM) on a Windows 2012 R2 server when you manage Windows 10 Clients. Feb 21, 2019 This article contains guidance about how to use different versions of Microsoft SQL Server on a computer that is running Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, or Windows 8.
Hey, hopefully you guys can help me with this. In an office I have a server running Windows Server 2012 R2, and is also hosts an L2TP VPN. I have setup multiple devices for this, from iOS and OSX to Windows 10. We recently bought a new company laptop and I was trying to set it up with the VPN because we need access to the server outside of the office.
I had successfully set the VPN up on a separate laptop running Windows 10, however on this new laptop I keep getting this error. 'The network connection between your computer and the VPN server could not be established because the remote server is not responding. This could be because one of the network devices (e.g, firewalls, NAT, routers, etc) between your computer and the remote server is not configured to allow VPN connections. Please contact your Administrator or your service provider to determine which device may be causing the problem.'
I don't believe it's an issue with a firewall or router configuration, because I can successfully connect to the VPN on my iPhone, iPad and Mac without any issues while being on the same network as the laptop. I also have a personal VPN service (HideMyAss) that can use L2TP. I can successfully connect to it's service through the laptop with ease. So if it was a firewall issue, why wouldn't it block access to HideMyAss? I have double checked the settings with the other Windows 10 laptop that I successfully configured, however I still get the same error.
Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. When you say 'can't see' the POS Server, what are you referring to. Here are some things I'd consider - If using the server DNS name to ping or connect via RDP then try the IP address instead. This is the case when I VPN from home on my personal Mac or PC. I need to use the IP address because DNS doesn't play well over VPN with workgroup computers.
Is the server and your computer a member of the domain or are the computers in a workgroup? - If they are in a workgroup, that explains why you can or can't see the particular computer.
